Create Depth Of Field – Premiere Pro
In this video I show you step by step how to create a depth of field blur or blurry background in premiere pro without the use of lenses. Step 1 is to drop your footage into the timeline. Now to go your effects and presets panel and type in gaussian blur. Drop the blur onto your video.
Next, select the gaussian blur effect in the effect controls panel and click on the free draw bezier tool aka the pen tool. Draw a mask around the object you want to keep in focus. If the object moves over time, you will have to animate the mask using the track selected mask forward tool. Move the points over time to make sure you have them where you want them.
Finally, click on “inverted” so everything except your object is blurred. Increase the blur to 50 (for example), and increase the feather from 10 to 80.
This is how you create depth of field or background blur without using lenses.
