In this tutorial, I show you how to make grids, guides and gutters in adobe illustrator. First step, open up a new document. We start with a 1366 x 768 px document.
Now, you want to create a rectangle. Click on the rectangle tool and then left click on the artboard. Make sure the rectangle is the same size as the artboard.
Now, go back to the selection tool and centre the rectangle to the canvas.
Now, you should reduce the width and the height by 20 pixels (or whatever you need for your project). This creates a margin on all sides.
Now, go to object — path — split into grid. Make sure your preview button is clicked. Select the number of columns and rows you want. Next, increase the size of the gutter – I use 20 pixels for this demonstration.
Lastly, click on view — Guides — Make guides to turn them into guides.
